As news about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to develop, we understand that these times of uncertainty are stressful for many. Now, more than ever we are committed to YOU and to our community. We are continuing to follow the recommendations from the CDC to help prevent the spread of disease and hope that you are doing the same.

Effective July 6, 2020, our Auburn Ave location will be Temporarily Closed.

With increased social distancing in our communities, we agreed to take this measure out of an implicit need to secure the safety of our members and visitors by decreasing the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) to non-infected people, as well as guidance from Governor Kemp to utilize sensible discretion relative to public contact over the next few weeks.

Our Grady Branch location and team will remain on-site, available and vigilant to assist you with your credit union needs.  We encourage you however, to explore our Online Banking www.1stChoiceCU.org  and/or visit any one of our Shared Branch locations https://co-opcreditunions.org/locator/  which we hope will minimize any disruption in your overall sense of banking experiences with 1st Choice Credit Union.

Our dedicated staff is accessible and able to respond between the hours of 8:30am-4:00pm. Homeownership Education

1st Choice Credit Union is a HUD approved intermediary Home Counseling Agency committed to increasing homeownership, creating affordable housing opportunities for low-income individuals/families; particularly among minorities.

We are also a preferred counseling agencies with relationships with several community partners who offer special down-payment assistance for; anyone in the general public, people with disabilities, as well as individuals working in select industries:

  • Education
  • Health Care
  • Law Enforcement
  • Military

Understanding the home buying process can be a challenging experience for a first time homebuyer. Purchasing a home is one of the most valuable investments a family will ever make. However; being more informed prior to making that purchase, typically eases the home buying experience and ultimately strengthens the borrower’s ability to obtain and maintain their American Dream of homeownership.

Homebuyer Education Workshops

Homebuyer Education Workshops a secret weapon for first-time buyers as one of the most valuable aspects towards homeownership with a HUD – Approved Housing Counseling Agency. Among the topics covered are essentials of budgeting and credit, shopping for a mortgage, inspections, insurance, working with the best real estate professional for you and the closing process.

One-On-One Financial Counseling – getting sound advice through an interactive and confidential way of learning the basics of money management, budgeting, credit, debt reduction, and creating lifelong habits to reaching realistic financial or housing goals. Our counselors will help you assess where you are, develop a collaborative action plan, and evaluate your progress by measuring improvements over time.

Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.

There is a $40 Fee per person due at time of registration (only 1 Free Guest from same household allowed).
Refunds are only allowed up to 7 days prior to the Workshop – Eventbrite fee is nonrefundable.

Notice: Due to limited space and seating, no children are allowed and pre-registration is recommended for all adults.
